Lauren grew up in Somerville, New Jersey. She studied History and Archaeology at Rutgers University and went on to pursue a master’s degree in Shipwreck Archaeology at the Institute for Nautical Archaeology at Texas A&M. After working on excavations in Kenya, Turkey, the United States and Bulgaria she shifted her focus to photography and in 2005 completed the International Center of Photography’s Program in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism.

Since 2005 Lauren’s work has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Time, Newsweek, Courrier Japon, US News and World Report and Le Monde 2, among others. Her photographs have been exhibited at The International Center of Photography in New York; the Canon Gallery in Tokyo; Lucent Technologies in Paris; and in a traveling exhibit for the “This Day of Change” photography book project sponsored by Courrier Japon. Lauren was a founding member of the photography collective, Veras Images. She was awarded an Honorable Mention in The 2006 Magenta Foundation’s Emerging Photographers competition, selected for the Focus on Monferrato Workshop in Italy and attended the Eddie Adams’ Barnstorm Workshop in 2007.

Lauren is currently based in The United Arab Emirates.
